Today was my annual pilgrimage to Mablethorpe, where I spent a happy (if chilly) day wandering around my favourite childhood seaside haunt. I normally go in September but this year, like last, I’ve ended up leaving it until later. As a result, because I like to get there for a nice early start, I left the house this morning before the sun was up and it was only after I passed Gainsborough that it showed it’s shining face properly (and even then, only after it had cleared a bank of cloud on the eastern horizon).
It was up just in time for me to photograph the remains of the windmill at Corringham though. It’s another one of those subjects that I’ve photographed on numerous occasions (I’ve blogged about it at least once before too), and the early golden light made this too good a chance to miss.
I shot it with my adapted Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 film SLR lens, mostly because I didn’t want to go switching lenses to the native 40mm equivalent I also had with me. I also shot it on film, so I’ll perhaps post those too at a later date if they turned out ok.
