I Have a couple of longer posts to come about a walk I took with my camera, but I need to write them first. So, today, let’s have a dig into the archive for something that I haven’t posted here before (I hope!)
I quite like this shot, and I’m not sure why I haven’t shown it before. It’s not perfect – the framing could be better, and use of a polarising filter would have removed the reflections, but the guitar against the dark background is quite appealing, I think.
I was going to write a longer post today but, after returning from a lovely four day trip with my wife, including around eight hours of travelling today, my computer has decided that now would be the prefect time to start throwing glitches at me. And I can’t be bothered to sort it out right now. I’m too tired, and I don’t want the residual sense of happiness from the trip to be ruined by trying to sort out technical problems.
So here’s a picture of a window with some red and white seats inside.
Tucked away beside this pond in the middle of the Leeds University campus, sits this duck house. I didn’t witness any ducks coming and going, but that was because they were happily parading their new brood of ducklings around the place.
I found this window to be a curious feature, and interesting enough to make a photograph. Because of the location of the house it probably gives a clear view of the road that curves past the rsidence – approaching from the right of frame and then going behind the point of view. Whether there was a practical reason for this beyond giving a nice view, I don’t know.

Pasted on the windows of a betting shop in Cleethorpes are a bunch of posters for the circus that was scheduled to come to town a week or so after I visited. The light was great, so it gets to be today’s picture.
I’ve had a couple of days off work this weekend, giving me four days instead of the usual two. My outstanding luck meant that this was as a sequence of winter storms hit the country and I was stuck indoors for most of the time.
Today however, despite it still being quite windy, the weather was bright so I took myself out for a few hours to get some photography done. I visited the picturesque village of Wentworth which is about half an hour’s drive. I’ve not shot my GW690 for a while, so decided to let it see some light and ran three rolls through it during the trip. It’ll be a week or two before they start appearing here as I’m currently back in the back in terms of a backlog of other new photos to post.

I have a roll of film to develop and had half a mind to get that done today. But then I spent the time watching TV and playing videogames instead. I normally develop my film in the utility room at the back of the house which is the same room where the washing machine and tumble-dryer live and, as there were several loads of clothes to be washed and dried, it would have been quite cluttered and noisy in there today, so I decided to put the job off for another day.
It wasn’t a hard decision to make though. I really don’t enjoy the process of developing film. I find it a chore. I’ll keep doing it because a) I invested in all the equipment to do so, b) It saves me a noticeable amount of money and, c) amazingly my home developed negatives hung to dry in the shower cubicle have notably less dust on them than the ones I get back from the lab, which is a bonus.
Despite these benefits, I don’t enjoy the process, and the thought of having to get all the stuff out, get everything measured and at the right temperatures, carry out the process of developing the film and then, the most tedious part, washing everything out. It’s basically housework.
Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow…
With zero connection to the rest of the post, here’s a photo of a door, window, road-sign, and a decorated telephony cabinet which I photographed because I liked the way they were lit.
A short post today, just another picture from the roll of expired Ektachrome 100 EPN I shot recently.
There were going to be three images shown, but WordPress has decided that, no matter what I do, it will only show one of them as a link rather than a picture. There’s probably a solution – like using the old editor or something – but I don’t have the time this evening.
Yashica Mat 124G & Kodak Ektachrome 100 EPN (expired 2008).
I don’t have a lot to say about this other than it caught my eye. Possibly because of the way it was lit, but most probably because of the big tangle of cables.
