I promise that this will the final set of pictures that I took walking around the city wall in Dubrovnik. 🙂
Still a few more photos from the trip to come, but we’re almost at the end though.

This house sat above the footpath that led from our hotel into an area of bars and restaurants. I liked the nice, isometric appearance of the structure emerging from the foliage.
Access to these properties is by sets of steps, but as they sit on the hillside between the footpath and a road that runs behind them further up the hill, there is a climb or descent no matter which route the occupiers take.

Just one of those little scenes that catch your eye when you have a camera to hand sometimes. I probably would have photographed it even if the bicycle hadn’t been present, but I think it adds to the shot.

I already posted a picture of this yacht when I was uploading “on location” during our holiday, but the photo below (and the other shots in this post) was taken earlier that day when my wife and I took a walk along the coastal path that led from our hotel to an area of restaurants, bars and shops.

The building in the centre of this photograph is the Franciscan monastery in Dubrovnik Old Town, or the entrance at least. The building at right of frame is part of the same structure and behind this is the pleasant open courtyard area accessible upon entry. To the right is the northern city wall, and the steps that can just be made out are where I accessed the wall a couple of days later.
I like the busyness of this photograph, with the bustling tourists in front of the monastery entrance. The Olympus Trip 35 has rendered the scene with impressive clarity, helped by the fine grain of the Fomapan 100 film. Click on the picture to see it in more detail.

I took both these photos after descending from Mount Srđ in the cable car. This is the wall that surrounds the Old Town area of Dubrovnik, in this case the western, inland side.
You can just make out the heads of some people walking the path atop the wall in the first picture, something I would do myself the following day.

For whatever reason, I took tow very similar shots for the same location atop the old town city wall in Dubrovnik. The colour version with my Canon Sure Shot Z135, and the black and white shot with my trusty Olympus Trip 35.
I like them both, but err towards the monochrome version, I think.

A couple more Mount Srđ pictures today, the first of someone who looks perilously close to the edge (actually a drop of just a few feet…) and then a couple of pictures of the white stone cross that was rebuilt after being destroyed during the war in the 1990s.
In other, non-photography news, I’ve had a busy few days. My eldest son got married at the weekend, which was a lovely event and made me very happy and proud, and then today my wife and I drove him and his wife (it feels a bit odd calling her that somehow!) to the airport where they flew off on their honeymoon (to New York and Las Vegas).
While I didn’t have a lot to do in terms of any of the wedding planning, I did have to step in to do the Best Man’s speech after my son’s friend got a teaching job in Singapore and so couldn’t be there on the day. I’ve never given a Best Man’s speech before, so I was a little nervous about that, but it seemed to go well and I got a few compliments, which was nice.
It feels a little strange now that the wedding is over.
