Pubs in decline
Pubs are an industry in decline. Many (away from town centres, at least) are either closed, struggling, or transformed into family pub-restaurants. There are still loads of pubs about, so they aren’t on their last-legs just yet, but it’s a common sight to see one boarded up these days, sadly.

Catching the sunlight
This small, seemingly abandoned (or at least in need of some repairs) building is located in Eckington, a few miles from my home. I’ve glanced at it on several occasions as a potential photo subject, but on the day I took this it was sat in brilliant sunlight, so I stopped the car and took the shot.

Escalators
I thought I’d dig something older out of the pile today, so here’s a shot taken on a trip to liverpool in late 2016. I was with my wife, so it wasn’t a photography outing, and on those occasions I feel a little guilty about taking my time over shots, so a lot of them are taken on the fly and grabbed when I can, as was the case here. There’s undoubtedly a better shot to be had of this location, but I’m not too unhappy about this.

Hope you’re home soon
Our cat went missing last night after I inadvertently left the garden gate open. He’s old, deaf, and mostly blind so I’m pretty worried about him. Someone has been in touch to say they saw him last night and gave me the location, but there’s no sign of him there now and I don’t know where he is at present. I’m hoping he’s just laid low somewhere and that we’ll get him home safe soon – I leafleted all the houses in the area he was last seen. 😦
UPDATE: We’ve found him! My wife spotted him drinking puddle water in someone’s garden (on a street I wouldn’t have expected him to be). Very happy now. 🙂

Winter field
This was taken back in January on a walk where I wish I’d worn some Wellies – although the ground looks crisp and frozen, the snow was in melt and my feet were sinking up to the ankles in places.

Horse in a winter coat
Despite being March (and supposedly springtime) when this was taken, there were still falls of snow yet to come. A probable reason for this horse and it’s companions to be wearing coats.
