The past three weeks have been pretty crazy. Even outside of the illness, I’ve been incredibly busy trying to sort a bunch of things out both at home and at work. I’ve had little to no chance to do any photography and my blog posts have frequently been, let’s say, concise.
I think that situation is likely to continue into next week at least, although I really do hope for a bit of calm and a chance to catch my breath before long.
So please exuse any lacklustre efforts I make. I don’t plan on missing any days, but there may be a few posts where there’s little to see other than a photograph.
Here’s another picture from the University of Leeds. I like this one a lot for some reason.

I realized a long time ago, I don’t have to write stuff for my photos.
They stand on their own (or don’t)… I also thought that I might be “leading the witness” if I talked too much about it, denying the viewer’s opportunity to engage with it on his own terms. Like seeing shapes in clouds…
Or maybe I’m just lazy and don’t like writing up commentary for posts if I’m not compelled to do so and I’m just justifying that behavior. I dunno.

Hello Matt. I think a minimalist approach is fine. Let the photo speak for itself. …Cailín

Thanks, Cailín. I think it is too.
I do consider whether my comments about a photo might lead someone else to interpret it my way instead of letting them do their own; but I also know there are times when I’d like to know more about a photo… it’s usually a per-photo situation for me…
And sometimes, I’ll write a comment on my own post simply to indicate it’s something I had to say but not strictly related to the image.

I don’t want to get into the habit of not writing anything in the posts as I think it would be a difficult trap to climb back out of, but sometimes I’ll cut myself a bit of slack and have some “light” days.

I often will write stuff when I feel compelled to; I simply let myself off the hook if I don’t.
One’s not better than the other, by any stretch. As I joked about my own thoughts: it could just be justification.
