The Bath Hotel from Convent Walk

I have vague memories of visiting this pub occasionally at lunchtimes when I was much younger than I am now, many years ago. It was a short walk from the building where I worked with a bunch of thirsty engineers. There would be, generally on Friday’s, sessions where I doubt many of the people were in any fit state to do any work when they got back to the office!

  1. On the other hand, these Friday tavern visits may have resulted in a more relaxed, open-minded state, possibly creating efficiencies in your work, creating new paths for problem solving πŸ™‚

  2. I am always fascinated by the fact that people – OMG! – drink wine or beer at lunchtime when working. Here in the US it could be grounds for immediate dismissal and accusations of alcoholism. Don’t you just love the Puritan heritage?!

    1. I think it’s ok in moderation. A beer or glass of wine is fine. Coming back to the workplace seven sheets to the wind would very likely result in similarly stern reprisals here in the UK these days though. Gone are the lunchtime sessions of old (at least in most workplaces…).
