I really don’t feel like writing a blog post. A busy day at work and all I want to do is chill out, but my daily posting regime means I won’t allow myself to evade the blog. The fact that I’m adding a haiku to every post this year is an extra unwanted bonus on a day like this. It’s all of my own making of course, and no-one is forcing me to write a new post every day, but sometimes I really fancy a day off from it. The issue with doing so is that then the run is broken. What would then stop me from taking a day off every time I didn’t feel like it (which happens on a pretty regular basis)? I suspect that any sort of break would be a straw to break a camels back and my frequency of posts would fall off a cliff.
But hey, look, I managed to get a post out of moaning about not wanting to post anything! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Congrats on keeping up the run! But if it’s burning you out to do it one-a-day, it’s okay to take a break. Or how about write a bunch of blog posts at once, when you are inspired, then schedule them out so you keep schedule?

I’ve done this before when I was going to be away for a few days and not really considered it for other uses. I might try and write a few “break glass in case of emergency” posts. 🙂

Posting everyday is demanding, particularly when most of us have busy lives.
I allow myself to take breaks although a few years ago it felt important not to do so!
If I run a series of images on a theme I will now sometimes schedule a run of images to appear everyday. It means I can create a number of posts in one sitting 🪑 and that takes the pressure off while keeping the blog alive and active for viewers.

Thanks. I think the idea of writing some posts in advance is a good one. If I choose things that aren’t date specific as subjects then I can bank a few for days like today and it’ll just be a case of hitting the publish button.
I have a glut of unpublished photos at present, so now would be a good time.
Glad you like the haikus. It’s somewhat amazing to think I’ve written over 150 of them this year so far (although I make no claims as to their quality! 😀).

Just in case you don’t know…
It’s possible to schedule posts for a date and time. Then you haven’t got to head back into WordPress to publish.
The schedule is a little less obvious now than it used to be in classic editor, but where it says: Publish – ‘Immediately’ (written in blue to the right of Publish – Not the big ‘Publish’ button at the top) you can click the ‘Immediately’ to reveal a calendar and clock to set the date and time of publishing for that post. Once set the ‘Schedule’ button appears replacing the big Publish button that was at the top before you set a scheduled time. The schedule button at the top then requires two clicks to schedule it. Hope that makes sense. If it doesn’t then it might once you look at the editor page.
Of course if you are not bothered about scheduling posts they can be saved as drafts and then published when you go back to them.
I hope that all those words are helpful rather than confusing…! 😀

Thank you. Yes, I’ve used the scheduled posts before – if I’m away from home I’ll set a post up in advance and then set it to go live on a certain date / time.
If I build up a set of ready-to-publish posts I don’t mind manually publishing them too much – it’s a much simpler thing that the actual writing part. 🙂
