Another dip into my (recent-ish) archive with a shot taken at the start of the year which I’d not published on Flickr until a couple of days ago. It shows a weather-worn fencepost beside one of the footpaths near Baslow Edge. Not sure why I didn’t publish it before – I possibly had a surplus of images to upload or something.
I ventured up town again today and finished the roll of HP5+ in my recently acquired OM-2. I felt much more inspired than I did on yesterday’s outing, although I’m still not convinced I have anything great to show for my efforts. I think that, as this has been my first roll through this camera, that I’m subconsciously treating it as a “test” roll and as such didn’t want to invest too much effort in the photos in case there’s an issue with the camera (not that I have any reason to think there might be). Anyway, the roll is shot now and I’ll hopefully get it developed tomorrow.

A couple of photos for today’s post, so chosen because they present a pair of images depicting the same location.
They both show the same country lane featured in my image posted yesterday, but about half-a-mile or so further along it’s length. At this point, the track decends into a gentle limestone valley and the route takes on a meander. The viewpoint from both sides of the small valley were very nice, although the light had broken through a little by the time I took the second image on the way up the other side, so that one has a lighter feel.
I’m not sure if the electricity pole detracts from the scene. It probably does if it was a traditional, nostalgic rural scene I was going for, but these poles and other pieces of infrastructure are a part of the landscape these days and, while maybe not as picturesque, no less man-made than the drystone walls that criss-cross the land.
What do you think? Do these sort of objects spoil or enhance a scene?

This picture was originally a much nicer (in my opinion, at least) square composition with the wall arcing up through the shot. Or it would have been had I not gottem my finger in the way of the lens, resulting in my having to reduce it to a 6 x 4.5 ratio crop.
It’s kinda frustrating as I almost never get my fingers in the frame – occasionally I’ve had shots where an errant gust of wind has blown the camera strap into the shot just as I pressed the shutter, but my fingers are generally immune to the breeze. Oh well, I still like the result, even if it could have been better.
