Morgan Plus 4

This Morgan was parked in front of a big white hotel atop the cliffs of Scarborough’s north bay. I’m not sure what vintage the car is – they were made from the 50s to the turn of the century, with a new version being released more recently.

Empty and occupied

Two car interiors – a Morris Minor and a Ford Popular. The bedraggled creature occupying the drivers seat of the Popular is, I believe, a womble, as featured in classic and beloved British TV show from the 1970s, The Wombles. 🙂

The wombles in the TV show were much better presented. Perhaps the showbiz lifestyle has taken its toll here…

Cars and bikes at the steam rally

A bit of an image dump today, gathering up all the pictures of cars and bikes that I photographed at this year’s Sheffield Steam Rally. Again, the shots are a mixture of Kodak Portra 160 and Kodak Ektar images.

I still have some more pictures from the event yet to come – perhaps a couple more medium format colour shots, and then a bunch of B&W 35mmj pictures.

’48 Studebaker pickup

Three shots of the same Studebaker pickup truck, each taken at different times and in changing light as I wandered around the vehicles on display at the steam rally. The first two on Kodak Portra 160, the last on Kodak Ektar.

1965 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight

This big boat of an Oldsmobile made for a pretty nice picture. I think the touch of corrosion on the bonnet (hood) adds to it.

I think that this is a Cutlass, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

EDIT: The owner of the car has discovered my blog post and contacted me to let me know that the car is actually an Oldsmobile Ninety Eight, which was the flagship model. I did speak with him on the day I took the picture and he told me that the corrosion on the bonnet was on his list of things to sort out, and he’s re-confirmed that, along with a few stats on the vehicle, namely that it has a 425 cubic inch engine, which means it is a 7000cc V8 engine. Around town it manages 8MPG, and 13.7MPG on the motorway.

Austin 7 and onlookers

I don’t often photograph cars from the side, usually because there’s always something else in the way or the lens isn’t wide enough to fit it all in. But I had the chance to do so with this Austin 7 (which I think is a Ruby Saloon from 1936).

I’ve just managed to squeeze it into the frame (and I’d normally leave a little more space) but I think the shape of the car lends itself to this tight framing.

I like the way the guy is framed through the window. You can also see me in a reflected selfie. 🙂
