On a misty day
These were shot at the small village of Middle Handley, not too far from where I live. I’ve photographed this phone box before, but not in misty conditions, and the stillness of the scene appealed.

It’s Christmas!
It’s Christmas. Or, as Noddy Holder would have it, It’s CHRIISSTMAAS!.
As I’ll not likely be posting anything on Christmas Day, I thought I’d get this one in early in order to compensate. I posted pictures of this anti-fracking protest mannequin a while back, but this is a new shot with it in its current festive guise.

Dreich
“Dreich” is, I believe, a Scottish noun that describes weather of a bleak nature, and so fits this image pretty well.

A Christmas tree
I discovered this somewhat unusual Christmas tree on my wanders this week. I didn’t venture far into the woods, but this was the only decorated tree I saw.

Trees in the mist
The following photos were taken this morning. I’d planned on visiting the flea market at Chesterfield, but on the way there noticed the nice misty conditions and so got waylaid taking some photographs instead. I decided to convert these to B&W and add some gradient filters and vignettes as I felt it suited the compositions. It’s brought out the grain a lot, but I think that works too.

A church in a pond
I had to stand on a bench in order to get the composition right for this (sometimes waist-level finders are a distinct disadvantage!). As a result it suffers from a bit of camera shake if examined closely, but I like it nonetheless. It’s a little far for me to travel to re-take sadly, although maybe one day…

On a staircase in a museum
A bit of an oldie today (well, if just over a year can be classed as such). This is the staircase in the Museum of Liverpool. I spent more time taking photographs of this staircase than I did looking at the exhibits!
