This hat shop in Manchester is striking in its own right, but I waited for a passser-by to give it additional interest. By chance I managed to get the chap in a pose not too disimilar to the classic Morcambe and Wise dance. He also has a carrier bag, Eric Morcambe style. 🙂

This takeaway restaurant has been a feature in Sheffield city centre for a few decades now, and it made for a nice subject for a nighttime shot. I like the glowing colours of the lights and the way they illuminate the street outside. I think it might have been improved had someone been sitting at the window seats, but I still like it empty nontheless – it adds a sense of mystery I suppose.

As I type this Flickr is still undergoing its site maintenance involving the moving of everyone’s accounts, pictures etc. (billions of photos and videos, and over 100 million accounts!) across to a new hosting platform. I think it was scheduled to take 12 hours, but like many IT projects, is taking a little while longer than originally planned. As such I can’t get at my photos to add them in the normal way so, instead, here’s one I’ve uploaded directly.
Note: This isn’t meant to be a metaphor for Flickr’s account migration project. 🙂

“Bracing”, that’s the word we use to describe those seaside walks in bitterly cold wind.
This day however was far from bracing – it was taken back in February during an unseasonably warm period. Good old climate change, eh? At least we’ll get some nice warm days at the seaside in the middle of the winter before the sea swamps the place altogether so we can never visit it again.

One from last autumn on a wonderfully foggy day. It was taken from the car park at the top of Porter Clough on the outskirts of Sheffield. I took a digital version of the same scene, but also grabbed this shot with the Sure Shot that I had with me as well.

I see roads like this and I just want to see where they lead. Sadly, on this day, I didn’t have the time to follow my curiosity, but it’s on my radar now. 🙂
