I’ve photographed this alley before, but couldn’t resist another shot in the sunshine-and-showers weather conditions we had here on Saturday. The wet street adds so much to the shot, I think.

On the coastal footpath just south of Cleethorpes at Humberston, a metal rail is inlaid into the path and a globe and signpost stand (giving distances to various global destinations). This is the prime meridian line, which was established in 1851 by Sir George Airy at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. From this point it travels north across the Humber estuary and into the East Riding of Yorkshire where it travels across country for a number of miles before entering the North Sea near the village of Tunstall. From there it continues across the sea until it reaches the pole.
The rail denoting the meridian line can be seen just below the shadow of the signpost in my photograph.

Every trip I make to a seaside town I invariably come back with a shot of some piece of street furniture advertising typical fare for the location. Sometimes it’s a huge ice-cream, occasionally a donut, and this time a hotdog AND an ice-cream. If anyone has been with this blog for a while, or has looked at my older posts, you may recall another photo of this same fella from 2017.

In business since 1966. this is apparently the largest fish & chip restaurant in the world and now resides in premises on Cleethorpes pier. The fish and chips were good. 🙂

A quickie post today as I’ve been out all day for work, so here’s a snap I took of two ladies browsing the hats (and tiaras?) in a shop window in Cleethorpes.

Before the day warmed up, it was quite cold and grim looking at the north end of Cleethorpes promenade. This is looking north towards Grimsby (the harbour tower is just visible at the right of the horizon besides the large building. It wasn’t just me taking photographs though. Look!

There’s a pedestrianised area beside this building that leads through the courtyard, under this footbridge, and down to where the buses stop, and that’s where I was when I spotted the lone figure up above. The flag atop the building was fluttering in the breeze, but I missed capturing it fully unfurled unfortunately.

Following on from yesterday’s photo, here’s a shot I took just a few minutes later and in the same location. I liked the way the reflected sun was casting these rays across the paving, so waited for someone to walk into the frame and add a bit of interest.

It was a lovely sunny winters day when I took this (and a number of other ) photos, and the low light was casting great looking shadows all oer the place. I thought the circular arrangement of paving-stones outside the cathedral would make for an interesting shot, so I staked it out and waited for people to walk through the frame and add interest. I took three shots and think this is the best one.
