This chap was running the flea circus tent at the Out of This World event the other week. He kindly posed for me and then, when I apologised for the additional time it had taken to get the shot with my film camera, got to talking about how he’s recently had an old camera of his own restored and was very impressed by the photos. A nice chap.

The main reason for my visit to Clumber Park at the weekend was to take shots of this church – the photo comp I’m in has ‘churches’ as November’s subject, and this is a nice church in scenic surroundings.

After a couple of rolls of Fomapan 100, I decided to try some colour film in the Mess-Ikonta and, at the weekend, I paid another trip to Clumber Park and, again, ventured into the walled kitchen garden and glasshouse, where I found this nice little scene.

I have a slight fascination for taking photos of postboxes – I think it’s because of the way colour film renders red (although, that said, I have some black and white shots of them too!). I liked the way the low autumn sun was lighting this one.

The Out of this World SF / Horror / Magic event was on in Sheffield last weekend, which is where I snapped this off duty Halo cosplay dude.

Despite living in Sheffield my entire life, I never knew this was here until a couple of weeks ago! It was apparently built in 1848 and is the remains of a cementation furnace used by Daniel Doncasters and Sons.

This is a bit of a test shot to see if I could achieve a shallow depth of field with the uncoupled rangefinder and f/4.5 Nettar lens on the Zeiss Mess-Ikonta 524/16. It’s not too bad, I don’t think.
Doubt I’d be able to nail a moving subject though!

The building in this shot is the remains of the old Jessop Hospital for Women in Sheffield. The building closed in 2001 with the services moving to the nearby Hallamshire hospital and the building was bought by Sheffield University. Sadly, although a grade II listed building, much of the structure was demolished to make way for a new engineering faculty building. The section seen here is all that now remains of the original building.
