Three views of the Humber

A triplet of photos all depicting the Humber Estuary. The added grain that has appeared due to the push-processing of the Ilford HP5+is readily apparent here but gives the images some grit, which I like.

The first two photos are looking eastwards as the estuary flows towards the North Sea – the first with The Deep, Hull’s aquarium and sealife centre, jutting into the left of the frame; the second a longer telephoto shot from the same location, towards the ferry and freight terminals.

The final image is looking west, back up the estuary towards the Humber Bridge which can be seen lurking in the background.

Fence & bridge

Not sure if I should’ve used a smaller aperture for this to get the bridge sharp too. It wasn’t my intention to have it sharp, but maybe it would’ve worked better if I’d either gotten everything in focus, or blurred out the bridge more? Also, the top of the fence post obscuring the base of the bride support bothers me slightly. Note to self: Must take more time when composing!

Boats moored at Barton Haven

I took a trip to Barton Upon Humber on Wednesady this week. The main reason was to photograph the Humber Bridge to get a photo to use in a contest I’m taking part in (September’s theme is ‘bridges’) and I got several shots that I’m pretty pleased with – I’ll post them here soon. I also took the time to get a few other shots from the area, including the one below of some boats moored on Barton Haven where it joins the Humber estuary.

The film used was Fujifilm Acros 100 (a roll that expired in 2014), the first time I’ve shot this. I’ve got another roll of the expired 120 format left, plus three fresh rolls of 135 to shoot, and I’m looking forward to doing so.
