Descending
I chatted with this couple for a few minutes. They told me how much they’d enjoyed their stay in Scarborough and had been surprised that it was much bigger than they expected. I’d planned on photographing this scene before I spoke with them, but thought their semi-silhouettes would add to the picture. And they do.

Three boats in Scarborough harbour
I’m quite surprised (and happy) by how many of these light-leak-affected photographs were able to be rescued by some creative cropping. While none of the cropped images reflect my originally intended compositions, most of them still manage to retain a level of quality that I’d worried would have been lost when I first saw the negatives. High-res scans certainly help too

At water’s edge
A job-lot of pictures today, all from my solo visit to Ciutadella, and all linked by the fact that I took them while walking along the inlet that leads to the city’s marina area. I think I’ve got them in consecutive order, so you can follow the route I took vicariously.

Empty frame
The curious thing about this picture is that, if you look closely, you can see that the writing on the sign affixed to the building is reversed. When I first saw it I had a moment where I thought I’d scanned the negative back-to-front, event though I was sure the building and empty sign-frame were positioned this way when I composed the shot. In the end I checked Google Street View to check I wasn’t going crazy and discovered that the sign is actually reversed in the physical scene. Perhaps the owners flipped it over at some point. The empty frame certainly gives the impression that accommodation is no longer available.

Up and down the River Hull
It was low tide when I was in Hull, so the titular River Hull was showing a lot of mud. I think it made for more interesting pictures though
